This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and highly collaborative individual to grow and develop an innovative Anesthesiology residency and expand medical student and fellow education in an unique highly supportive environment. The UConn residency program educates Anesthesiology residents at UConn John Dempsey Hospital, Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Faculty at each site are passionate about education and dedicated to the academic mission. Major goals for the Vice-Chair to achieve include:
1. Supervision and direction of all educational activities in the Department, including medical students, residents, fellows and rotating residents from other services
2 Work closely with educational leaders at each site, integrating them into the administration and direction of the educational mission
3. Coordinate educational lectures, journal clubs and visiting professorships for the residency
4. Coordinating the residency recruitment and selection process
5. Advocate for a required medical student Anesthesiology rotation and guide the creation of a curriculum and evaluation criteria for student participants.
6. Develop innovative educational strategies and new rotations and educational opportunities for our medical students, residents and fellows.
