We are excited to announce the department is seeking an Associate Residency Program Director (APD) to join the leadership team of one of the top-ranked anesthesiology residency programs in the country. We welcome applications from full-time, board-certified anesthesiology faculty at the rank of assistant professor or higher, whether currently at WashU Medicine or joining us from another institution.

As one of the largest departments within WashU Medicine, we are defined by a dedication to excellence, our advancement of the science of anesthesiology, and a passion for our quadripartite mission: clinical care, research, staff development and education. Our department offers competitive educational programs designed to train the next generation of physicians and physician-scientists within our Residency Program or one of our 11 subspecialty fellowship programs.

Our Residency Program is among the top academic programs in the U.S., comprised of over 90 residents. This prestigious career development opportunity is ideal for a board-certified anesthesiologist with a strong commitment to education and the ambition to become a national leader in postgraduate medical education and training.

The APD will have the opportunity to explore and implement new teaching paradigms including the application of AI within anesthesiology education as well as overseeing our senior resident specialty tracks in education, leadership, quality improvement and global health. This role also involves leading the Clinical Competency Committee and collaborating with the Education Support Team for trainees needing remediation.

To promote professional and academic growth, a tailored mentorship and leadership training program will be provided. The APD will report to the Program Director and the Vice-Chair for Education. We encourage applicants who have a strong commitment to building a collaborative culture and the exploration of novel approaches to residency training. As a department and residency training program, we are committed to a culture of inclusion, collaboration and the wellness of our trainees. We expect the successful applicant to share these values.
